About
Celler de l'Encastell...
All the grapes used to make this wine come from our properties:
"Mas d'en Caçador": Natural slope (costero) of llicorella
slate with an extension of 2.5 hectares. Situated 500 m above sea level,
here grapes of the garnacha and cariñena varieties are grown. These
are old vineyards, with an age between 60 and 90 years. Output is in the
range of 300-500 g of grapes per vine stock.
"Mas d'en Ferran": Costero of llicorella slate, with terraces
measuring 3 metres in width. It has an extension of 5 hectares. It was
planted with the varieties garnacha, cabernet, merlot, and syrah in 1996.
The output here ranges from 1.5 to 2 kg per stock.
The llicorella slate, combined with the privileged micro-climate, the
scant yield of the stocks, the almost complete absence of phytosanitary
treatments, the difficulty of working the land because of the steepness
of the terrain, the small size of the winery, a meticulous attention to
quality, and the strict selection process of the grapes before they enter
the processing facilities, give rise to the exceptionally exquisite character
of our wines.
Roquers
de Porrera Aged
14 moths in brand new fine grained french allier oak barriques
40 % garnacha, 40% cariñena, 20% cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah.
Annual producción 6.000 b. 14,5 % vol.
Intense bigarreau
cherry colour marked by deep violet tones around the rim, as a result
of its youth.
Very complex and intense aroma. Initially it evokes ripe fruits, surrounded
by clear touches of vanilla and cacao. After stirring it a bit, it develops
slowly towards flowery notes (violet) and plum jam. All of this combines
with the clear mineral and balsamic notes, characteristic of slate soils.
Ample, fatty and oily at its attack. Then it becomes tannic but pleasant.
Its tannins are powerful, but also mature, so its passage in mouth is
full, velvety and intense. Its good acidity proves a magnificent balance.
Long and persistent, it leaves a clear remembrance of plum liqueur. This
vine will be improving in the bottle for the coming 10 years.
